My Top Ten Favorite Reads of 2018

So, if you’ve been following my posts, you’ve probably noticed that I did this back in July, with my top  5 books of the first half of the year. Some of these books will probably be the same, but there’s some new ones too!

  1.  Scythe by Neal Shusterman

Scythe and Thunderhead are absolutely amazing books, full of originality and exciting plot twists.  This series tops the list, and I can’t wait to find out what happens in the next one!

2. The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli

I can’t believe I waited so long to read this one.  It has dragons and an exciting plot line!

3.  Ash Princess by Laura Sebastian

I loved this book so much and after that cliffhanger I am begging for more!

4. My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, & Jodi Meadows

I never knew this was a hilarious, sarcastic book.  I loved it a lot.

5. Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson

You people told me I would LOVE this book you were NOT wrong. This is the BEST high fantasy book I’ve read to date. I’ve actually started reading the Well of Ascension already even though I hadn’t planned on it.

6. Fawkes by Nadine Brandes

This book was a great historical fiction.  I love the mix of magic and history intertwined.

7. Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller

The protagonist of this book is witty, and funny and not afraid to stab someone without feeling guilty.  I loved it so so much.

8. A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

Kell was amazing in the book, but Lila really stole the show in the rest of the series.  I don’t really mind, it was a fantastic read anyway.

9. Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

I read Six of Crows in 2017, otherwise it would be on list. But Crooked Kingdom still made the list and I am reeling from the amazingness (I’ve officially deemed this a word) of this series, so much that I’m re-reading it. (And I never re-read a book, so that’s saying something there.)

10. Tempest and Slaughter by Tamora Pierce

I have been waiting for this books for YEARS!  Tamora Pierce’s books are just so epic tht that they are always worth the wait.  Also, so much information bundled into this book that you’ll want to know about.

And there you have it!  My top 10 favorite books I read in 2018! As always, thanks for reading! 🙂

  1. I can’t believe I haven’t read My Lady Jane yet! I’ve seen it everywhere, and historical fantasy is one of my favorite genres.
Tamora Pierce has books other than the Alanna series?! I’ve got to go look this up right now!
Wonderful post and thanks for the book ideas!

    1. Lady Jane had me laughing a lot, and not very many books do that! 🙂 Yep, Tamora Pierce has a few other series! 🙂 I’ve known about Tempests and Slaughter (but not the name) for quite a while now! I usually check ( http://www.tamora-pierce.net/ ) a few times a year to see if there’s any news about books. The Beka Cooper Series (Terrier, Bloodhound, Mastiff) and the Trickser’s Series (Trickster’s Choice and Trickster’s Queen) are some of my favorites! And thank you! 🙂
