Hello Dear Book Friends!  I hope your week is off to a great start! 🙂  I haven’t published a book review in over month and it seems like I almost forgot how! >_< Anyway, I’m back on track and ready to tell you about this book!

I decided to request this from Net Galley mainly because of the title, Corpse and Crown.  The title was very eye-catching for me (lol, pun intended) because if there’s anything similar to zombies involved, I’m all for it! Also, it has a historical fiction setting which I’ve been really into reading a lot more of, here lately. And fortunately and I was approved! 🙂

This is an Oliver Twist retelling with a bit of Frankenstein incorporated and it is so different than what I expected! I thought it was AWESOME.

This book is actually the second in the Cadaver and Queen Series.  Unfortunately, I didn’t realize this until too late, however, you CAN read it as a stand-alone book.  Corpse and Crown happen to tell the story of different characters set in the same world as the first book.

Let me just say that this book was so much CUTER than the title sounds! I absolutely adored the main character, Aggie, as she reminded me a lot of Audrey Rose from Stalking Jack the Ripper. Also, I love this girl’s boldness so so much.

The Artful Dodger quickly became my favorite person. Though the queen was very, very close. I just wish the story would have told me more about this character and how she really felt. If I’d read the first book, this might have (probably) made more sense to me!

This story had me really intrigued by the Bio Mechanical aspect, more than I thought I would be, and I found myself wanting to know more about it – which is pretty unusual for me.  I really enjoyed where the author was going with this story, though I felt it could have a bit more detail involved.  I STILL enjoyed it, regardless.

The writing style was FANTASTIC, and I had a very hard time putting this book down so I could go to sleep.  I really wanted to know what was going to happen, and the plot twists were put in all the right places!

So overall, I really, really enjoyed this book.  I plan on reading the first book (hopefully soon), so I can find out more about the Queen now that I’ve read this one! The characters were well written, the style of writing was great and I highly recommend that you read this! (Though you might want to read Cadaver and Queen first, so you have more info going into the second book!)

I was provided this e-arc by the publisher, Harlequin Teen/Inkyard Press through Net Galley.  All opinions expressed in this review are all my own.

Anyway, these are my non-spoilery opinions and thoughts about this book! Let me know what your thoughts are in the comments below! Also, thanks for reading!
