Hello Book Friends!  I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

I heard a lot of good things about this book and the synopsis sounded super EXCITING.  So I decided to give it a try by picking it up at the library.  Which I did WEEKS ago.  Along with a lot of REALLY popular books right now.  I’ve been so consumed with work and everything else that I must get done that I have had to renew ALL of these books at least TWICE. 🙂  Though after reading this book the question on my mind is WHY DID I NOT SACRIFICE SLEEP TO READ THIS?

Also, the COVER art looks awesome too, so there’s that, too!

I absolute ADORED the main character, Lira!  She’s vicious, sassy, sarcastic and smart and I envy her so much!  I LOVED this book so so much.  It reminded me a lot of the book Daughter of the Pirate King which was equally as AMAZING!  Pirates and Royalty – what else could I want?!  It was similar to the little mermaid retelling, but I’ve never read the original Little Mermaid story, so I don’t have anything to compare it to except the Disney movie version!

Also, I loved that it’s written from two points of view – Lira, and her enemy – Elian.  I loved EACH of their personalities. Did I mention how SAVAGE, Lira is?  Because she is, and it’s great. Also, LOTS and LOTS of witty banter made for such an enjoyable read.  And the writing was fantastic and flowed extremely well! Also, the world-building was ABSOLUTELY amazing.  I loved all the locations that were described in such a way that I felt like I was right there with them! I really want to go to these places. I could NOT put this book down!  I was really really sad when I finished the story because it was over.  So sad.

I’ve heard a lot of people say that is this story is dark, but I’m used to reading about assassins and zombies.  Compared to what I’m used, it’s not as dark as I’d thought it would be.

So, overall I really really enjoyed this book!  I thought it was a fantastic fantasy story that was super fun!  I loved ALL the characters, the writing, and the world building!  I highly recommend this to everyone who loves fantasy!

Anyways, these are my non-spoilery opinions and thoughts about this book! Let me know what your thoughts are in the comments below! Also, thanks for reading!
